I grew up like many young computer programmers, engineers and artists. I didn’t come from a wealthy family, I didn’t have a lot of fancy toys and I never even got the chance to rock a pair of Jordan’s. I was often confused or misconstrued as being destructive and uncontrollable. I Would “disassemble” just about anything that the could be separated into 2 or more pieces. I loved electronics and electricity in general.
Around 1994 my Father was given a Computer from his boss at work as a bonus. It was probably one of the most exciting gifts ever given to our family. At the time I knew very little if anything about computers and this was right before the big bang of home computing entered the offices of the common American family. We had a 14.4bps modem and nothing more than a few local BBS’s to dial-up to. I almost immediately began exploring the working of Windows 3.1 and Shell, writing small batch files, moving onto Turbo Pascal writing small BOT scripts. We recieved the Internet in around 1995 provided to us from a local Upstate New York ISP, This was a mind blowing experience for me and I immediately began reverse engineering web pages, I had to know how this whole “web” thing worked. I Remember at the time there was no Google, however there was Yahoo and we had that set as our Netscape home page for the longest time. At the time there weren’t many dynamic web languages like PHP and .NET like there are today. PERL and CGI combined with HTML was the driving force behind most corporate websites. However, most websites were powered by pure HTML. I had a copy of Adobe Photoshop 3.5 and windows notepad. I began viewing the source code on Yahoo to learn how the language would render what the end user sees. I would use Photoshop to sketch mock-ups and cut out the graphics and apply them to my HTML templates. Not to boast, but I really believe I was one of the first people to do a Photoshop web mock-up, I have some friends that can vouch for that even, back then there were no mock-ups and web-sites were more commonly limited to only a few images anyway. This was by far one of the best times in my life, the internet was so simple back then, there was IRC, Webcrawler and AIM… That’s about it. That was Social Networking in 1995.
Here we are approaching 2010 and many things have changed in 15 years in the world of web, all except my passion for technology, business and the Interent. I currently live in Toledo Ohio and I’m pursuing an Associates degree in Computer Science while also working full time for an Internet Marketing Firm as a Web Developer and operating Director of Artwork and Web Design. Over the years I’ve learned a lot in regards to Internet Marketing, SEO, Web Development and client management. Over the years I’ve designed and developed over 50 corporate and private websites, 35 Blogs and 45 Landing Pages. I’ve designed about 25 Logos and Trademarks, developed a hand-full of custom web applications and have been a developer and project manager on a large scale software application codenamed “Punch” which builds, generates and manages Landing and Squeeze pages on a subscription based service. I’m aiming high! By the end of 2010 I am hoping to have my own LLC off the ground, specializing in Chrome OS, and Mobile device applications.
